Rules of passage Narration-
1.Yes, no, thank you, sir থাকলে
Direct:The teacher said to the boy, "Do you
think that honesty is the best policy?”
Indirect:The teacher asked the boy if he thought that honesty is the best policy.The boy respectfully replied in the affirmative and said that he thought so. Then the teacher advised the boy to learn to be honest from his boyhood.The boy respectfully thanked the teacher.The teacher prayed for the boy that Allah might grant him a long life.

2.একই বক্তার পর পর একাধিক উক্তি থাকলে
The old man said to me, “You can go home now. I have
no time to talk to you. You may come tomorrow.”
The old man told me that I could go home then. He
added that he had no time to talk to me. He also added that I might come the
next day.
3.Good
morning, good afternoon, good night থাকলে
I said to him, “Good-morning”
I wished him good morning.
Good bye থাকলে
He said, “Good bye, my friends.”
He bade his friends good bye.
4. Assertive Sentence এ Interrogative
sign থাকলে
She said to me, “You have
remembered how she looked all these years?”
Being surprised, she asked me
if I had remembered how she had looked all those years.
5. Address (সম্বোধন) করা বুঝালে
He said to me, “Dear friend,
please help me.”
Addressing him as dear friend,
he requested me to help him.
6. By Allah, by Jove, by God, by my life থাকলে
“By Allah/by Jove/by God/by my life, I
will not leave the house”, he said.
Swearing by Allah he said that
he would not leave the house.
7. Sorry/I am sorry থাকলে
He said, “sorry/I am sorry. I
can’t go.”
Expressing his regret, he said
that he couldn’t go.
He expressed his regret/sorrow
and said that he couldn’t go.
8. Hello, excuse me, listen থাকলে
He said to her, “Excuse me, what
is the time by your watch.”
Drawing her attention he asked
her what the time was by her watch.
He drew her attention and
asked her what the time was by her watch.
9. Oh, well, I see থাকলে
“I live at Savar,” said the
student. “I see” said the teacher. “It is a long distance from here.”
The student said that he lived
at Savar. Expressing surprise the teacher said that it was a long distance.
10.Reported speech এ full sentence না থেকে
শুধু phrase বা single
word থাকলে
“You have carried a long way.
How much should I pay you?” I said to the rickshaw puller.
“Fifty taka?”
“Ok.”
I told the rickshaw puller
that he had carried a long way.
I also asked him® how much I
should pay him.
I again asked him if I would
pay him fifty taka.
The rickshaw puller replied
that it was ok.
11. Why থাকলে
“When will you go to market?”
“At 3 pm. why mother?”said the
son.
The mother asked the son when
he (s) would go to market.
The son replied that he would
go to market at 3 pm and wanted to know the reason.
12. Tag Question থাকলে
Della said to Jim, “I’m
without my hair, ain’t I?”
Della asked Jim if She was
without her hair and assumed that she was
He said to me, “They are not
playing football, are they?”
He asked me if they were not
playing football and assumed that they were not.
